Understanding G4D and those who compete.

Explore what golfers with disabilities tell us about participation, motivation, barriers and the support that can make golf easier to access and enjoy.

Research overview

Five perspectives on participation.

In April 2025, EDGA commissioned Sporting Insights to explore the potential of golf for the disabled. Fieldwork took place between June and August 2025, with the questionnaire distributed across the full EDGA database to provide views from the UK, Europe and the rest of the world.

02 Motivations

What motivates people to play?

Explore the ranking for one region or compare two regions directly.

03 Why Golf

What does golf give people?

Use the full continuous ranking or compare the measures available in both selected regions.

04 Barriers

What makes participation more difficult?

Compare regions directly to distinguish widespread barriers from issues that appear more strongly in particular markets.

05 What golfers need

What support could make participation easier?

See what golfers identify as useful support, then compare priorities where the same measures are available in both datasets.

About this data

This tool uses the regional percentages supplied in the EDGA research dataset developed with Sporting Insights in 2025.

The available views are Total EDGA, EDGA UK, EDGA Europe and EDGA Rest of World. Comparison mode only displays measures where a value is available in both selected datasets.

The Age profile also includes a wider-population benchmark derived from the United Nations World Population Prospects 2024, using 2023 population estimates. Total EDGA is compared with the world population, EDGA UK with the UK, EDGA Europe with Europe excluding the UK, and EDGA Rest of World with the world excluding Europe.

The published EDGA age labels are retained exactly: Under 30, 31–40, 41–50, 51–60 and 61+. Because the source population data are supplied in five-year age groups in this implementation, boundary ages are proportionally allocated to reproduce the EDGA bands, and age 30 is excluded to follow the published EDGA labels literally.

Percentages may not total 100% where responses were rounded. Missing regional values are not estimated or treated as zero.
