Please Note
2021 EUROPEAN INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONSHIP for GOLFERS with DISABILITY To be contested over the; O Connor Jnr Course, Amendoeira Resort, Algarve, Portugal. Designed by Christy O'Connor Jnr., this course complements the neighbouring Faldo Course and also takes full advantage of being situated in a fertile valley. Its various water features, both lakes and watercourses that are spread throughout the entire course, demand accuracy and test from all golfers, and the rich topsoil has been skilfully landscaped and planted with mature palm trees, affording a lush, ornamental setting like an extensive oasis. This course has tees that are generally connected to the fairways, but its greater overall distance, the water hazards and big greens provide its challenge. Golfers must also be prepared to read the subtly contoured putting surfaces that are strong features.

Designed originally by Sid Brews in 1936, course one was upgraded in 1992 and modernised by Hugh Baiocchi to meet USGA specifications and is one of the few courses’ in South Africa that can boast this. The club has a wealth of history and natural beauty flowing through it. With four tee options, golfers of any handicap can play on this prestigious South African golf course. The parklands style course has hosted a number of both professional and amateur golfing competitions and stands as a true test of golfing ability. Golf is for Everyone

and is the only sport where players of all ages and abilities can compete with each other.

One of the primary missions of EDGA is to help individuals with impairment to start, stay, succeed and enjoy golf. Amongst EDGA’s major achievements is the definition of three different categories of international golfing events that meet the minimum criteria for golfers with disability.

On the 'Listed Events' page you'll find a full list of EDGA approved events and we aim to keep the contents up-to-date with the latest information as soon as it's received from the event organisers. However, please contact any of the individual event organisers directly if you have any questions or require additional information.

All EDGA approved events are open to players from all disability categories who meet the eligibility criteria. The events can be played in the stroke, match play or stableford format.

EDGA Open Series

The EDGA Open series is open to players from all disability categories, with a nationally recognised golf handicap of not more than 54, who have an Access Pass or a WR4GD Pass. Players will compete together in a pan-disability format. Where possible, golf handicap should decide the initial draw, before tournament position becomes the deciding factor in subsequent rounds. The format of these tournaments may be stroke play, match play, or stableford. Only the points earned by players who have a WR4GD pass will be added to the Ranking.

  • All golf handicap categories up to 54.0
  • Minimum of 36 holes
  • Playing in handicap categories

EDGA Challenge Series

The Challenge series is open to players from all disability categories with a nationally recognised golf handicap of not more than 54, who have an Access Pass or a WR4GD Pass. Organisers may decide to play the tournament in golf handicap or disability categories, as well as gender and age categories, and have the option to hold a single disability category tournament. The format of these tournaments may be stroke play, match play, or stableford. Only the points earned by players who have a WR4GD pass will be added to the Ranking.

  • All golf handicap categories up to 54.0
  • Minimum of 36 holes

WR4GD Series

The WR4GD Series is open to players from all disability categories with a nationally recognised golf handicap of not more than 28 for men and 36 for women, who have a WR4GD Pass. Players will compete together in a pan-disability format. Where possible, golf handicap should decide the initial draw, before tournament position becomes the deciding factor in subsequent rounds. The format of these tournaments may be stroke play, match play, or stableford.

  • Players must have a WR4GD pass
  • Golf handicap categories up to 28.0 for men & up to 36.0 for women
  • Minimum of 36 holes
